About
A decade in design, give or take a hangover. And a short list of rules I keep coming back to.
I’m Snehanjan, an entrepreneurial design thinker and a UX / UI designer, currently in Bangalore. Ten years spent finding the line between limited resources and dependable design, and learning to walk it without too much drama.
My values
Five things I keep coming back to. The order moves around; the words don’t.
- i.
Passion is everything.
If you love what you do, you do your best work. The rest of the time, you remember that you used to, which is the next best thing. Find the people who inspire you. Steal from them honestly.
- ii.
Learn every day.
Be the coolest, nerdiest nerd in the room. Continuously, and on purpose. There is a lot to learn. The day you stop is the day you stop being useful.
- iii.
Stay creative.
There is always a better solution. Trust the gut. Then back it up with numbers. Both have to agree before you ship, and the right way usually shows up between them.
- iv.
Stay humble.
Doesn’t matter who you are, or aren’t. Treat everyone with kindness and they’ll do the same. It’s the least you can do, and most days, it’s the only thing that quietly compounds.
- v.
Don’t take selfies.
Make a friend instead. Let them take the photograph. And, for the record, your wife is always right. (Help.)
More about me
My approach is unfashionable but consistent: find the pain points, sit with them long enough to understand what’s actually causing them, and turn that into something a team can act on. Most of the work happens before the design tools open.
Currently leading design at Great Learning. Before that, meditation apps, event badges, photographs of dogs, a health super-app or two, and a quiet pile of brand work.
Outside the work, there is Bangalore, a Ducati, a camera that follows me around like a dog, and the slow business of staying interested in things.
If you’d like to find out more, let’s talk. I’m good for a pint of craft beer or a coffee if you’re in Bangalore.
